WACO, Texas – Academic Achievers in Waco ISD’s three high schools (Waco High, University High and A.J. Moore Academy) will be honored at the annual Waco ISD Academic Achiever banquet on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. The event, which will be held in Chisholm Hall at theWaco Convention Center, begins at 6:30 p.m.
Guest speaker for the event is Grant Teaff, former football coach at Baylor University and currently executive director of the American Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Attendees at the banquet will also have the opportunity to meet Waco ISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Bonny Cain.
Waco ISD Academic Achievers are tenth-, eleventh- and twelfth-grade students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 96.5. These dedicated students will be honored at the Academic Achievers banquet, each receiving a school letter or letter jacket and a certificate for their accomplishment. This year, 187 students will be recognized at the banquet.
Each student will be accompanied by their parents, along with a guest educator of their choice. Guest educators are recognized at the banquet for the influence they have had on the students’ academic success.
