Valentine's Day Fire Leads to Arrest

A 41-year-old man has been charged with arson and booked in the McLennan County Jail in connection with an incident that occurred on Valentine's Day. Aaron Charles Cannon is accused of setting a fire on the outside of a house at 1508 Cottonbelt Avenue in Waco. Court papers filed in the case indicate that fire investigators confirmed that a fire did occur and that the fire was intentionally set on the northwest side of the structure, with an ingitable liquid poured on the siding. A witness told investigators they had seen a man running across his back yard with a gasoline can just prior to discovery of the fire damage. Another witness at that location told investigators he had received a phone call in which the caller threatened to burn them up. Investigators then obtained an arrest warrant with Cannon picked up and booked into the jail. Bond was set at $98000 on the arson charge.
