Officers responded to 2605 Taft St. at 12:49am after receiving a 911 call advising someone had been shot. Officers arrived to find the male victim inside the house with a gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced him deceased at 1:20am and ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
During the investigation a 22 year old female was identified as being involved in this incident and was subsequently taken into custody. Detectives continue to investigate the events surrounding this death.
The deceased victim has been identified as 15 year old Austin Taylor McCormick of Killeen.
The Bell County District Attorney’s Office returned a complaint charging Lisa Marie Harrell with Manslaughter. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke who set her bond at $1,000,000; she has been transferred to the Bell County Jail.
(Additional information received from the complaint affidavit indicated the weapon was being handled by the suspect after her boy friend had handed it to her so he could take pictures. She stated she had dry fired it one time and it had not gone off, she fired it again thinking she was aiming at a wall and it went off, with the round striking the victim)
