Texas Forest Service Photos
The Texas Forest Service says an updated estimate now indicates 180 acres of grass and brush were burned in a fire in northeastern Lampasas County. Firefighters from five departments in three counties battled the blaze off Highway 190 along Lampasas County Road 1400. A Forest Service spokesman says the fire started with a controlled burn yesterday that got out of hand. Forest service bulldozers were added to the mix fighting the fire which was listed as controlled this afternoon. A bridge on a historic railroad was damaged in the fire. A house and three barns were protected by firefighters though the flames got very close at times.
