Gatesville Man Stabbed in Back with Metal Rod, Another Arrested
Gatesville Police report a 33 year old man is being held in the Coryell County jail charged with stabbing another man in the back several times with a metal rod. Michael J Carpenter has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say they were contacted abut 3:30 Monday afternoon by a nurse at Scott & White Hospital in Temple where a man was being treated for stab wounds. The man had been taken to the hsopital by private car following the incident at a residence in Gatesville. The victim told police he had been in bed when a man came in, grabbed a knife off a nearby shelf and attempted to stab him. As they struggled over the knife, the handle came off and the victim was stabbed several times in the back with a metal rod that had been part of the knife assembly. His injuries were not believed life threatening.
