Ft Hood Soldier Found Dead in Barracks

FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive March 20 in his barracks. The cause of death is unknown.


Private First Class Tommy Lee Curd, 19, whose home of record is Ellington, Mo., joined the military in February 2010 as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and was assigned to 509th Forward Support Company, 504th Special Troops Battalion, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Hood, since December 2010.

Curd's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
