The Bryan Police Department would like to announce that the Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) has a new officer assigned to it. Officer Melinda Hayes started her new job today as a Neighborhood Enforcement Officer. Officer Hayes will work with three other officers and a sergeant in the unit.
The Neighborhood Enforcement Unit started in January of 2008 and has had great success. The unit strives to build partnerships with Bryan residents, business owners, and religious leaders to foster a better community involvement in problem solving. NET works closely with existing units within the Bryan Police Department and other City of Bryan departments to tackle issues in neighborhoods, parks, and business communities.
Officer Hayes has been with the Bryan Police Department for almost 10 years. During her time here at the Bryan Police Department, she has worked as a Patrol Officer, a Field Training Officer, a School Resource Officer, and has worked on the Crisis Negotiation Team. She will be assigned to 4 Zone in the city, which is the northeast portion of the City of Bryan.
