9/11 FLAG STITCHING CEREMONY

(FT HOOD RELEASE)
FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood will host a National 9/11 American Flag Stitching Ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19 in Fort Hood’s Abrams Gym. Volunteers are restoring the flag that was recovered at the World Trade Center after the Sept. 11, 2001, attack in New York.

Currently the National 9/11 Flag is on a journey across the United States to restore and become part of the National September 11 Memorial Museum. The National 9/11 Flag will be displayed at several locations throughout the United States and pieces from a flag destined for retirement will be stitched into the flag.

During Friday’s event, Fort Hood Soldiers and family members will stitch parts of a local flag into the larger 9/11 flag. The local flag was flown over Duncan Elementary School on Nov. 5, 2009.
