REPORTED INCIDENTS
Killeen Independent School district has been made aware of two incidents that occurred in the afternoon of October 21st and the morning of October 22nd. The district is sending a letter home with all Killeen ISD students and an automated phone call also was sent to all parents of KISD students. The following is the content of an automated message that was to sent to parents:
This call is from the Killeen Independent School District:
We want to make you aware of two incidents that have been reported to law enforcement this morning, October 22, 2010.
The first incident took place in the afternoon on Thursday, October 21, near Windsong Drive in Killeen. A middle school student reported being followed by a dark pick-up truck driven by a white male. This information has been reported to the Killeen Police Department.
The second incident occurred Friday morning, October 22, on Lake Road in Killeen. A dark pick-up truck with two men approached two male students on their way to school. KISD immediately contacted Killeen Police who arrived at the school to begin an investigation.
In both of these cases, there was no direct contact with the students and students were not harmed.
KISD wants to make our parents aware of these incidents as we continue to monitor and investigate in conjunction with the Killeen Police Department. Please be aware that our citizens are at a heightened sense of awareness and will call in all possible suspicious activity, including incidents that may not be related to the abduction reported last week.
If you see anything suspicious, please report it to the Police Department that supports your residential area. KISD and KPD will continue to work together and keep parents informed.
Attached is a copy of the letter that was sent home with all students. As always, the safety of Killeen Independent School District staff and students is of utmost importance.

The first incident took place in the afternoon on Thursday, October 21, near Windsong Drive in Killeen. A middle school student reported being followed by a dark pick-up truck driven by a white male, who followed the student to her residence. She was able to safely avoid any contact with the individual. This information has been reported to KPD.
The second incident occurred Friday morning, October 22, on Lake Road in Killeen. A dark pick-up truck with two men approached two male students on their way to school. The students continued to ride their bikes to school and reported the incident. KISD immediately contacted KPD who arrived at the school to begin an investigation.
KISD wants to make our parents aware of these incidents as we continue to monitor and investigate in conjunction with KPD. Please be aware that everyone is at a heightened sense of awareness and will call in all possible suspicious activity, including incidents that may not be related to the abduction reported last week. KISD and the Killeen Police Department will continue to work together on this. Further, we recommend that you discuss the following safety precautions with your children.
Safety Rules for students who walk home:
1. Walk with others. DO NOT walk home or anywhere alone.
2. Stay away from any vehicles. Stay at least 3 giant steps away from vehicles.
3. You should never feel obligated to help a stranger for any reason. If an adult/stranger really needs help, they can call the police for assistance.
4. If an adult wants you to go with him/her or wants you to help him/her, say “NO!” get away from him/her immediately, and tell an adult.
5. Yell or scream, "Get away from me!" if a stranger tries to grab you.
6. Call the police department and report any incident immediately. Try to remember any identifying information to report (hair color, height, car color, type, license plate, etc.)
If you see anything suspicious, please report it to the Police Department that supports your residential area. KISD and KPD will continue to work together and inform our parents.
