HASAN HEARING-DAY 2

DATE: October 13, 2010 9:54:30 PM CDT Fort Hood Garrison PAO Statement Day 2 Major Hasan's Article 32 Hearing


Testimony began this morning in the Article 32 Hearing against Maj. Nidal Hasan after Investigating Officer Col. James Pohl denied a defense request to delay the hearing until Nov. 8.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, has been charged with 13 specifications of premeditated murder and 32 specifications of attempted premeditated murder in the Nov. 5 shooting at Fort Hood. Hasan is considered innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.

Six Soldiers and two civilians testified, several of whom were wounded in the Nov. 5 incident.

During today’s Article 32 Hearing procedures both the prosecution and defense questioned the witnesses.

Testimony by witnesses for the prosecution will continue at 9 a.m. tomorrow.(Thursday)
