Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan Media Operations Center
PANJWAI, Afghanistan – There is “general distaste” for the Taliban in a small village in the Panjwa’i District, and the villagers showed it by helping Afghan and coalition forces during a recent operation to rid insurgents from the district in Kandahar Province.

Afghan Commandos from 3rd Commando Kandak, advised by soldiers from Special Operations Task Force – South, performed a clearing operation in the district Oct. 14 -16 and found that many men were helpful in locating improvised explosive devices in the village.

“The overall sentiment was that of general distaste of the Taliban,” said the SOTF-South team leader in charge of the operation.

“All of the villagers were happy with the reductions of the IEDs and presence of coalition troops,” he said.

Found and neutralized during the operation were five IEDs.
