Monday, Temple Police will be out in Force at School Zones

Sgt. Brad Hunt

Public Information Officer
Temple Police Department

In continuing cooperation with the Temple and Belton Independent School Districts, the Temple Police Department will be out in force starting Monday, August 23rd. At T.I.S.D.’s request, the Department will assist with traffic control and enforcement at several of their schools.

Patrols will not be limited to certain schools and areas. With the end of summer, and school starting anew, motorists are once again reminded to pay special attention to any school zones they may travel through. For the safety of our children and crossing guards Temple Police Officers will be strictly enforcing state laws in active school zones. Common violations include: speeding; talking on or using a cell phone; and, failing to stop for a crossing guard. Fines for these violations are usually doubled.

The Department remains highly focused on the safety of parents, students, educators, and motorists near every school in the city. With your help, we hope to have a safe school year.
