MANHUNT FOR SUSPECTED CENTRAL TEXAS MURDERER

Temple police are asking the general public to be on the lookout for 40-year-old Anthony Wayne Neal. temple police say he is their suspect in a early Sunday morning shooting death at the Westgate Apartments in Temple. When police responded to that location about 12:20 am Sunday they found 24-year-old Michael Calders dead of a gunshot wound to the upper torsoe.The initial investigation reveals the victim and suspect were in an argument inside the victim’s apartment when the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect then took the victim’s keys and stole his 2000 gold Cadillac sedan, fleeing the area.  


Temple Police released the suspect and stolen vehicle information to area law enforcement agencies as soon as possible. Investigators received a call from Lorena Police sometime after 1:30 am, advising that the vehicle and suspect descriptions released by Temple directly matched those from a Burglary of a Habitation and Sexual Assault case there. The Lorena case was reported at about 1:22 am.



Lorena Police report that another vehicle had been stolen after that crime, with the Cadillac left behind. The outstanding stolen vehicle is described as a white 1999 Chrysler minivan, with Texas License Plate #488 WTZ.


The ARMED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SUSPECT is described as:

Black male

Tall, thin build

Dreadlocks-style hair, though photo does not show long hair, and it’s unknown if suspect will keep hair long or short as he remains at large.

Last seen wearing a green (or blue/green) and white shirt, blue jeans

Armed with handgun

Driving stolen vehicle (listed above)

Suspect remains considered armed and dangerous and may en route to Killeen, TX, San Antonio, TX, or New Orleans, LA.


The Temple Police Department now holds an arrest warrant for O’Neal, for the charge of Murder.


Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500. NO citizen should attempt to approach this suspect or the stolen vehicle under any circumstances, but should notify Temple PD or their local 911 call center if he is located.
