Bellmead police are continuing their search for a fourth man wanted in connection with the attempted robbery and murder of a Bellmead convenience store owner, but now say they fear he may have fled to Mexico. According to police, the Texas Rangers and U.S. Marshals are now searching 31-year-old Jose Mario Escobedo. Two adults and one juvenile are already in custody in connection with the murder.
It was Saturday August 14 that Najmal Haq was stabbed several times in his New Quick Food Mart at 1902 Old Dallas Road. Police say information obtained from security camera tapes that indicated Haq was stabbed by two men during an apparent attempted robbery.
About a week after the robbery and murder police announced the arrest of 28-year-old Saul Medina, 26-year-old Federico Davila and a juvenile. All are charged with capital murder. Medina and Davila are being held in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $500000 bond. Medina also has an immigration hold.
Police say they believe Medina and Escobedo entered the store and were involved in the attempted robbery and stabbing and that the juvenile and Davila were in the car.
Bellmead police request that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jose Mario Escobedo call the Bellmead Police Department at (254) 799-0251, Waco Crimestoppers at (254) 753-HELP or your local law enforcement agency. Authorities say Escobedo should be considered very dangerous.
